About

A Warm Welcome to the MCC!

A little bit about us:

The Manchester Comix Collective was founded in October 2007 by comic artist Adam Cadwell to provide a hub for the burgeoning comic scene in and around the city. A place for comic artists, writers and readers to come together, share their work and meet like minded people. A social network website was set up on the Ning network (here) to be the online home for the Collective, which was free to join and provided members with their own profile page and blog.

In May 2010 Ning announced they would be charging for all social networks from July 2010. So in June 2010, Cadwell set up this blog as new home for the MCC, a news feed for all comic news from and relevant to the North West, with a calendar of upcoming events, all in one place.

The real world extension of the site is the monthly Drink ‘n’ Draw event. Currently held at Sandbar every last Sunday of the month, the DnD provides a casual environment for socialising with other comic creators and readers, while doodling in the pub. For more information check the Calendar on this blog for the next DnD event.

We also have a Facebook Group for our monthly Drink ‘n’ Draw event. Join the group to be kept up to date on the next Drink ‘n’ Draw, rsvp and have a nosey at who else plans to attend.

Since it’s inception in 2007 the MCC has exhibited together at the biggest comic shows in the UK. Artists came together and sold their latest work at Bristol Comics Expo in 2008 and at Birmingham International Comics Show in 2008 and 2009. We hope to exhibit again at future events whenever we can and to help reduce costs for self published artists to attend the big shows.

Photos from the Drink ‘n’ Draws and the shows we’ve been to can be found on the Photos page.

And of course we’re on Twitter as well, so all our posts will be auto-tweeted there, and we can also have a chinwag with you.

If you would like to contribute to the blog and let us know about your comic related news, you can contact us at news(at)manchestercomixcollective.com.

Okay, that was quite a lot about us actually! I hope you find the MCC to be informative, useful and most of all fun. See you at the Drink ‘n’ Draw!

Adam Cadwell.
